Cambusdoon XI lose opener to Nunholm
A very youthful Cambusdoon XI with three U15's making their League debuts, travelled to Dumfries in the opening match of the 2019 Reserve League to take on Nunholm. Captain Ross Mitchell won the toss and elected to field. Some tight bowling early on kept the Nunholm openers at bay, but as the innings progressed they began to take control and put on an opening stand of 182 before one of the debutants Toby Nixon trapped Drew Dawson lbw for 92. His fellow opener Malik was to follow soon after, out to a fine diving catch at short cover by Lloyd Jefferson, one short of what would have been his first century as the innings closed on 261-3. The Cambusdoon reply did not get off to the best of starts losing both openers early, before Richie Borland (34) put some momentum into the innings with some aggressive shots, but his dismissal followed soon after by Mitchell, left Niall McCrossin (47) as the only remaining recognised batsmen and he was caught behind as he tried to up the run rate and they were eventually bowled out for 184 of the last ball of the innings.
