Heavy defeat at Bothwell
It was a disappointing day for the Cambusdoon XI as they fell to a heavy defeat away to Bothwell in the only game in their division to be completed. Captain Ross Mitchell won the toss and with the weather forecast not looking great, decided to bowl first. The home team made a solid start but with the introduction of Richard Borland into the attack lost their captain Walsh and soon after fellow opener Martin who was caught and bowled by David Baines who completed a miserly spell, conceding only 14 runs in his 10 overs. Mitchell then shuffled his attack, which was missing his two main strike bowlers Ivan Craig and Chris Hill bringing on the young team of Woodhouse, Forsyth and Maxwell and each responded by getting wickets for their captain, including a spectacular catch by Angus Craig in deep for Maxwell’s. With Forsyth claiming three quick wickets on his introduction and Woodhouse one, Bothwell were reeling at 104-7 before a stand of 55 between Jahanzeb and Eminson rescued their innings before Woodhouse bagged another two wickets as they finished their innings on 182-9.
The Cambsudoon run chase did not get off to the best of starts with Craig being run out in the first over and then quickly losing Henderson, Borland, and Mitchell to leave them in dire straits at 7-4, which they were unable to recover from as they were bowled out for 55, with only Steve Baker (23) reaching double figures.
The result sees them fall from top to third place in the Second Division but only 4% behind leaders Victoria.

Records tumble at Williamfield
The Cambusdoon XI travelled to Stirling to take on Williamfield in what was a top versus bottom clash. Captain Ross Mitchell, returning after injury won the toss and elected to bat, but the innings did not get off to the best of starts losing Lewis Lilley with only five on the board and then Angus Craig at fifty. This brought the two inform batsmen Richard Borland and Jonny Baines to the crease and together they produced one of the highest 3rd wicket partnerships for the Cambusdoon XI putting on 205 before Borland was dismissed for 141. Baines then added another fifty with Ivan Craig (37) before he departed for 110, his first century for the club. Mitchell (37no) then continued the run onslaught as the innings finished on 399-9, the second highest score by the team in the league.
When Williamfield came out to bat they were quickly put to the sword by the youthful attack with Chris Hill ripping through the top order as he claimed 5-10 and Cameron Forsyth mopping up tail finishing with figures of 3-8 as the home team were skittled out for only 42 in 19.2 overs and give the Cambusdoon men victory by 357 runs, another record as they maintained their position at the top of the table.

Bowlers set up victory at Anniesland
The Cambusdoon XI travelled to New Anniesland looking to keep up their good run of form going against Glasgow Accies. With a number of players unavailable from last week, this meant a debut for David Baines jnr, who would join his brother Johnny and Dad in the starting XI.
Captain Steve Baker lost the toss and the Accies captain chose to bat first but Ivan Craig made them regret that decision taking a wicket with the second ball of the day. The Accies opener looking to hit the ball into the middle of next week only to find a thick edge and Dave Baines snr took a sharp catch at 2nd slip. Chris Hill opening from the other end was soon in the action taking a wicket with his 4th ball cleaning up the other opener with a beauty. A small partnership then developed between Dowers and young Duncanson-Ward before Craig picked up his second with a lovely slower ball and four balls later cleaned up the Accies captain.
Next over Chris Hill picked up his second with a superb catch by wicket keeper Richard Borland, a low one handed grab down to his right, to leave Accies struggling at 39-5 after only 10 overs. The father and son "Spin Twins", Dave Baines and Jonny Baines were then introduced and settled well into a nice rhythm and were unlucky not to take wickets in their first few overs. Accies had moved onto 61 before Dave got one passed the bat and bowled Kapila. In his next over he picked up Nicholas with a good catch from Cammy Forsyth at point. Craig was then re-introduced into the attack with skipper Baker looking to attack with 3 slips and a gully with young leg spinner Mikey Maxwell at the other end. Craig got his reward in the 24th over getting a caught and bowled, and next ball cleaning up the Accies number 10, stumps and bails everywhere. The hat trick ball was unsuccessful before father Angus Craig was unlucky not to hold onto a difficult chance at 3rd slip. Accies were all out soon though as a run out from Dave Baines ended the innings on 97 after 27.4 overs. Ivan Craig 5-28, Chris Hill 2-22 and Dave Baines 2-17.
Baker and Angus Craig opened the batting with the skipper smashing a four second ball through point and Craig doing the same, straight back over the bowlers head. Baker was then adjudged lbw in the 6th over which brought Borland to the crease. He continued his good form hitting two short balls to the boundary on the leg side before smashing two more to the cover boundary. Craig was next to go in the 11th over, bowled by a beauty of a delivery hitting the top of off stump to leave Cambusdoon on 36-2 as Jonny Baines joined Borland in the middle. With some good Accies bowling it was getting harder to score as the pitch being a bit two paced. Young left armer Paterson then got Borland to miss judge a pull shot and he was out for a run a ball 41 in the 20th over with 30 still needed for victory. Ivan Craig came in at 5 and hit some trademark cut shots for four before Jonny Baines joined in hitting a couple of short balls to the boundary as the win was sealed in the 25th over with Baines 24 not out and Craig 16 not out, keeping the at the top of the 2nd Division.

Victory against GHK to stay top of the league
The Cambusdoon XI maintained their position at the top of the table after a comfortable victory at home to GHK. The visitors won the toss and batted first but were kept in check by the young Cambusdoon attack who chipped away taking wickets and keeping the run rate down as they bowled the visitors out for 215. Robbie Walsh finishing with 4-42 and Chris Hill 3-35.
The Cambusdoon innings did not get of the best of starts losing Lewis Lilley early, but Callum Henderson (66) and last weeks hero Richie Borland (65) got the innings back on track before Matthew McClymont with an excellent 42 took them to the brink of victory, only for a mini collapse to give the home support a few nervous jitters, but captain for the day Steve Baker came to the crease and ‘guided’ his second ball to the third man boundary for four to seal the win.

The home team batted first and were bowled out for 211, Cambusdoon not helped by having to field with only 10 players, losing Richie Borland who injured a finger attempting to take a catch and had to go to hospital, for almost 40 overs.
Their reply did not get off to the best of starts as they lost four early wickets, before Ross Mitchell (34) and Robbie Walsh (38) started to rebuild the innings, but once they departed followed by Steve Baker for 20 it was left to Borland who had returned from his trip to A & E to try and see them home, but with the required run rate increasing the task proved too much as they fell 21 runs short with Borland on 40 not out.
