Victory at Glenpark
The U 17's were away to Greenock/Helensburgh today and returned with a comprehensive 8 wicket win in the drizzle at Glenpark. Losing the toss we were put into bowl, something which we would have done had we won the toss. Cameron Forsyth and Christopher Hill got us off to a good start with some good economic bowling, Chilly getting the wicket of their opener with the score on 9 in the 4th over. The hosts then built a solid foundation, adding 66 for the next wicket, with Lewis Lilley taking their #3 bat with a smart catch from Sean Ferguson. 2 balls later and Lewis had his 2nd wicket, finishing the over with a double wicket maiden, with the score on 75-3 from 14 overs. With dangerous opener Fischer-Keogh approaching his half century, Robbie Walsh then clean bowled him for 49 and the score on 103-4 in the 18th over. Greenock/Helensburgh closed on 113 for 4 from their 20 overs. Forsyth finishing his 4 overs with none for 14, Hill 1 for 18, Walsh 1 for 23, and Lilley 2 for 9 from his 4, including 2 maidens. We were pleased at the break with the total and how we had played, with tight bowling and keeping the extras down. Some very good fielding on what was becoming a wet outfield. In reply, Christopher Hill scored 8 from 3 balls before being clean bowled in the first over with Dylan Neill then coming out to join Lewis in the middle. Needing just less than a run a ball, the pair of them batted beautifully and we were always ahead of the run rate, bringing up our 50 in the 8th over. Dylan eventually fell for 39, including a six and 5 fours, in the 12th over, with the score on 82. Robbie came in and continued where Dylan left off, scoring an unbeaten 15 including 3 fours. For the 3rd match running, Lewis carried his bat, scoring 41 not out, including 7 fours. We reached the target in the 15th over. A really good all round performance with bat and ball, and in the field. Both teams were 2 short, so gaps were there in the field. To restrict them to 113 was excellent. The boys batted with maturity and timed the innings beautifully which enabled them to be a bit more expansive as we went on. A big thanks to the parental support once again this evening, for the lifts, and to Joe for umpiring.

Superb victory at home to Clydesdale
The Under 16s recorded a superb 8 wicket at home to Clydesdale 2 this evening. We won the toss and elected to bowl. The first 2 wickets were both run outs, Jake Woodhouse and Nari Bhandari with excellent direct hits. A good opening for us, with Clydesdale on 18-2 from their opening 4 overs. 4 wickets were then taken in 3 consecutive overs, with Cameron Forsyth, Nari and then Cameron with a couple, taking the score to 62 for 6 after 11 overs. Lewis Lilley and Charlie Barker each took a wicket and we had Clydesdale on 83 for 8 after 14 overs. We were unable to take any more wickets, and a number of extras saw them move to 115-8 from their 20 overs. Of the wicket-takers, Cameron's figures were 3 for 20, Nari was 1 for 23, Lewis 1 for 6 and Charlie 1 for 15.
In reply, Christopher Hill and Lewis Lilley got us off to a decent start, with Christopher being bowled with the score on 18 in the 4th over. Nari came in and kept up the run rate, eventually being bowled for an important 27, including a six. With the run rate coming down, Robbie walsh came in to join Lewis in the middle, and hit a lovely 32 not out, including a 6. Lewis carrying his bat for the second game in a row, finishing on 33 not out. We batted sensibly and won the game with 21 balls to spare.
Some good bowling once again, but too many extras took Clydesdale's score to a much more challenging total than it should have been. We batted well and knocked off the runs consistently and kept our wickets intact. Overall, a good team effort and we go on to next Monday, where we are away to the combined Greenock/Helensburgh team.

Whopping win against Kilmarnock
A comprehensive 173 run win for Ayr this evening against Kilmarnock. Killie won the toss and put us into bat. A century opening stand from Lewis Lilley and Christopher Hill inside the first 11 overs set up the victory, with Christopher going on to score 41, and Lewis carrying his bat to an unbeaten 84. Robbie Walsh contributed an excellent 25 not out, with Nari Bhandari the other batter, out for 14. Ayr finishing on an imposing 195 for 2 from our 20 overs. In reply, Killie were all out for 23. Opening bowlers Hill and Cameron Forsyth each took a wicket in their first over, and the wickets fell at regular intervals thereafter, with Killie all out for 23 from 14.5 overs. Forsyth and Walsh both took 2 wickets, with Hill and Charlie Barker taking a wicket each. Jackson took a wicket on his U16 debut, and Deborah Otterson completed the job by taking her first ever wicket at this level on her debut. An excellent all round performance. The batting was excellent, the bowlers all played their part, and the fielding was also to a high standard, with Walsh taking 3 catches and Bhandari 2. It was nice that Killie's coach approached our group at the end to say well played, and complemented us on our group, their play and the way they conducted themselves. Well done to all. Player of the match: Lewis Lilley for his unbeaten 84.
