Cambusdoon fall agonisingly short
The Cambusdoon XI travelled to Paisley to take on Meiklriggs where they fell narrowly short in their run chase. The home team batted first and were soon in trouble as Robbie Walsh removed both openers cheaply before the middle order steadied the ship only for the spin twins of Maxwell and Baines to strike and then Richie Borland was introduced into the attack and duly cleaned up the tail as they were bowled out for 198. Maxwell finishing with figures of 3-45.
For Cambusdoon, Jake Woodhouse was the mainstay of their run chase as the Meiklriggs attack also made early inroads, with the visitors losing Lewis Lilley and Richie Borland with only 13 on the board. With wickets falling regularly at the other end Woodhouse went on to make his first senior fifty, but when he was the eighth wicket to fall for 53 the Cambusdoon men were still 67 short of their target but Steve Baker (28) and Matthew Cooper (23) chipped away at the total and when Baker was last man out they had fallen an agonisingly five runs short.
